The Challenge
In a restaurant environment, menus, order taking and online ordering are connected parts of the customer experience. Disconnected processes can create extra manual work and make it harder to maintain a consistent experience across in-person and online orders.
My Role
Alongside restaurant operations responsibilities, I worked on menu design, a new POS setup aligned to the menu and an online ordering system. This experience shaped my approach to technology: start with the business workflow, then choose and configure tools to support it.
Approach & Implementation
- Designed menu presentation to improve clarity and usability for customers.
- Structured POS items and workflow around the menu and operating needs.
- Introduced an online ordering option to support digital customer orders.
- Connected the technology choices to real service operations and staff workflows.
Business Impact
- Created a more coherent relationship between menu design, order entry and online ordering.
- Reduced friction between customer-facing presentation and the tools used to fulfill orders.
- Built practical experience translating business requirements into working technology workflows.
Outcome & Lessons
This is a useful complementary case study because it shows that my work is not limited to infrastructure. I look at how technology supports the whole business and the people using it.
