The Challenge
Office networks had grown independently. Even where devices were domain-connected, limited inter-office connectivity made centralized management and remote troubleshooting difficult. Acquisitions and new locations increased the complexity and made a scalable design increasingly important.
My Role
I helped lead the internal network scope expansion, took ownership of UniFi environments and worked on the SD-WAN rollout connecting offices to the main environment. I also designed network approaches for newly acquired locations and coordinated cabling and security vendors.
Approach & Implementation
- Assessed the business need for inter-office connectivity and centralized device management.
- Implemented SD-WAN connectivity across office locations to improve communication with the main environment.
- Managed UniFi network environments and coordinated network changes across sites.
- Planned network designs for newly added offices, including switching, Wi-Fi, network drops and camera connectivity.
- Coordinated vendor work for structured cabling, alarms and access control.
- Worked on print-server deployment to make printer deployment more consistent across the organization.
Business Impact
- Improved the foundation for centralized administration and support of distributed devices.
- Made it easier to extend a consistent network approach to new and acquired offices.
- Supported the expansion of internal IT coverage across 16 offices and remote employees.
- Created a repeatable blueprint for future office deployments.
Outcome & Lessons
The networking program helped move the organization from disconnected site-by-site support toward a more centrally managed multi-office environment. Exact topology and security configuration are intentionally not published.
